Records, 1955-1977.

The material for the Administrative Council of Missionaries in Malaya of the ULCA consists of minutes from 1955 to 1963. These meetings were monthly and sometimes bi-monthly. Minutes of the Executive Committee of the Council from 1961-1963 are also filed here. In October 1963, the name was changed to the Association of Missionaries in Malaysia and Singapore of the Lutheran Church in America. The Executive Committee met monthly and these records include their minutes from 1964-1972. The Association also held annual meetings and these minutes are on file from 1967 to 1975. There are also records from the Lutheran Church in Malaysia (renamed the Lutheran Church in Malaysia and Singapore in 1965). Included are Executive Council minutes from 1963-1977 and annual meeting minutes from 1964-1975 (1966 is missing). In addition to the minutes is the administrative correspondence, 1960-1976, with the LCA Board of World Missions (the Division for World Missions and Ecumenism after 1972). The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malaysia and Singapore had its work carried out by the Diocesan Council which met monthly and whose minutes are included for the period, 1964-1973. Also part of these records are reports and papers from the Third All Asia Lutheran Conference held in Singapore in 1976. The LCA-Missionary Association of Sabah was made up of missionaries assigned by the LCA Board of World Missions to work in Sabah with the Basel Christian Church of Malaysia. The records for this group consist of minutes of annual conferences held from 1964-1971; financial reports, budgets and business records covering the period of 1968-1973; and administrative correspondence from 1969-1972.
